Trips from Zakopane to Kraków
Day trips head north from Zakopane to Kraków, around 110 km and roughly two hours by road, to see Wawel Castle and the old town, sometimes paired with the Wieliczka salt mine or, on a longer itinerary, the Auschwitz-Birkenau memorial, which requires advance online booking and cannot usually be added to the same day as Wawel. Traffic on the DK47 can extend the return journey on peak weekends.
