Things to do in Zakopane town

1 km long, and the Tatras closing the view to the south. Beyond that street, the town's real content is architectural, not urban: the wooden villas of the Zakopane style that Stanisław Witkiewicz shaped in the 1890s, the Tatra Museum founded in 1888, and the graves at Pęksowy Brzyzek cemetery.

The Wielka Krokiew ski jump, opened on 22 March 1925, is a building you visit, not a slope you ski. From the top of Krupówki the funicular climbs to Gubałówka in 3-4 minutes; the Kuźnice cable-car base, closed to private cars, sits a 30-40 minute walk south. Budget half a day here before the mountains take over.
